Autism is wild.. Storytime guys. Um, today was my little boy's first day of first grade. We forgot to give his teacher a little form. Says how he's going to get home. When she asks who's taking the bus home, my little boy who's autistic said, I am. I want to take the bus home. She let him hop on the bus. This issue is we live 30 minutes away from the school. He does not take the bus. We drive him in and pick him up every single day. It's first grade. He already did this once, right? We went to school to go pick him up today and he was nowhere to be found. And the teachers didn't know where he was. And then on top of that, the school bus drivers didn't even know where he was because he kind of just snuck on and said, yeah, I'm going home. Then when they called his name, the bus drivers, he hid and did not answer because he didn't want to get kicked off of the bus today. He was really hell bent on riding the bus. Then my wife ran to the front. I then ran around to some other spots. We were looking all over for him. And I had to go and hop on the bus and go walk through to then say, Remington, get your ass off the bus, buddy. We are not taking the bus. My wife is crying. I'm crying. Now my son is crying. My son isn't crying because, you know, he's lost or anything like that. He felt pretty secure where he was. He was very disappointed that dad was not letting him ride the bus home. That's why he was crying. Autism's wild, dude. He's home. Everything's great. We had to have a wild, very stern talk to him that the bus does not actually go to our house. He now knows. He can't take the bus home. It's been an exciting day. Happy first day of school everyone from me, our autistic family to yours. Years.
