We were so close to finish our renovation until this happened. I swear every time we tick one thing off the list, something else gets added. And that's actually why we finally opened a Monzo joint account. Every new project means organising trades, buying materials and moving money around because we've always shared our finances. But somehow, after 13 years together, we never actually had a joint account. Every renovation project has basically meant transferring money backwards and forwards between us because one person's paid for this, the other's paid for that. And we need to make sure neither of us goes over. We realised that with everything else we've got going on, this was one thing we could make easier. So we set up a joint renovation pot in our Monzo account. We both add money to it and we can see exactly what's left. There's always going to be another project, another job, another thing to sort. But when your money stops needing your attention, you can give it to each other.
