Turns out if you mail Microsoft to $5 check, they'll mail you back something they don't sell. What's going on? First follow me because I find weird stuff in tech. All right, so deep in the legal fine print of basically every Microsoft product. I'm talking teams, office, even Forza. There's a real mail address. And it says send us a $5 check and tell us which product and we will mail you the code that runs inside it. Not download, mail, like a birthday card in 2026. So why does this even exist? Well, a ton of Microsoft stuff is built with free code that other people wrote. And the rules for using that free code are kind of old school. If someone asks you for a copy, you've got to hand it over even by mail. Now, the funny part is that same paragraph has a link where you can download all of it for free. Literally doesn't matter. The mail option legally has to sit there right next to it. And one guy is actually doing it. He's serious. He's mailing a real $5 check right now while the internet is arguing about what the code is going to show up on. Is it going to be a DVD? Flash punch cards, who knows? The suspense is killing me. So somewhere at Microsoft, some poor employees about to burn a DVD or something, because of $5 check. Best five bucks ever spent?
