Frugal things that should be normal but aren't (Laundry edition) Coming from a frugal 31 year old Laundry Edition. There's a fine line between being Frugal and cheap, and these ones are Frugal and these ones will actually save you money. First, skip the laundry pods. They cost more per load. And you also can't control the dosage if you don't have a full load. Instead, use liquid detergent. You have flexible dosage, can be pretreatment, and it tends to work better for cold wash cycles too. Second, drying balls. Add some balls to your drying cycle. These reduce your drying time by 25% and it makes your clothes softer too. Third, skip the fabric softeners and scent boosters. They leave a residue on your clothes and your washer, which will eventually damage both. Instead, use vinegar. It'll soften clothes just as well as your fabric softener and it gets rid of any odors as well. Four, mesh bag. Or if you're like me and hate hand washing, then definitely recommend getting a mesh laundry bag. You could put your delicates like silk and linen in here so they don't get damaged in the wash.
