I find it unimaginable that there are people who genuinely believe that Trump was the better option for the economy. When you've now got multi-billion dollar conglomerates sounding the alarm about how American consumers are running out of money. McDonald's and Heinz ketchup are out here saying consumers aren't able to spend as much money on us anymore. That this is a problem. Obviously, this isn't a thing of the billionaires moment. But it does need to be taken into account how dangerous it is to have a president who so clearly does not care about affordability issues in the United States. And is very happy to crony up with big business and help them extract as much money from the American people as possible. When 68% of your GDP is based on consumer spending. This means that three quarters of the American economy is American consumers spending stuff. You can see from this graph, this is the Federal Bank of St. Louis that America has always been a very consumer spending heavy economy. Even going back to the 1950s, it's always more than half. Now, the CEOs of the conglomerates that are selling consumer products to Americans are noting that data is suggesting that Americans do not have enough money at the end of the month. "They're literally running out of money at the end of the month," Cahillane said in a May 2026 interview (1). "We're seeing negative cash flows in the lower-income brackets where they're dipping into savings." The companies like Heinz, Kraft is now cutting products that have increasing costs and rolling out smaller, lower price points. Elsewhere, Whirlpool CEO Marc Bitzer has described a sharp pullback in demand for big-ticket appliances, while North America executive president, Juan Carlos Puente, has described "recession-level in the US," with discretionary spending down roughly 15% (4). There are corporate earnings, household budgets and credit card balances that are all on the decline. Which kind of implies that the only thing keeping the United States out of a recession right now is AI data center infrastructure spending, which is not doing anything for anyone. Despite the AI bubble propping up the American economy, half of Americans struggle to afford groceries and gas, exclusive poll. About 57% of polled believe the economy is worsening. The cost of living crisis, a survey for the Guardian, half of Americans struggle to afford groceries and gas. While Trump makes abundantly clear that he does not give a monkeys about Americans struggling in what can only be described as a gilded cage economy. Yes, those additional 15 billion dollars data centers across Texas and Ohio are adding another 0.2% GDP growth at the end of this quarter. If consumer spending makes up the vast majority of your economy, your consumer spending is stuttering because no one has any money. That is not a very good sign of things to come. In the economy that Donald Trump has created, even billionaires and mega corporations are going to have trouble because what do you do when all of the consumers that you're trying to leech money from don't have any more money? It's almost like affordability is a serious issue and Donald Trump is a moron for discounting it. That's my opinion. Follow for more.
