well hello!! It’s been a minute since I’ve dropped a new part of my favorite alpine lakes in Colorado 🏔️🫶🏼✨ As you know, I’m on a mission to explore as many alpine lakes in Colorado as I can. I’ve claimed myself at a certified alpine lake lover - rarely doing hikes without a lake at the end of it!! I hope you’re ready cause these are my alllll time favorites🫶🏼 1/2. Island lake and ice lake San Juan mountains 3. A little gatekeeping never hurt anybody!! Willing to share to those willing to p As finally able to check off Island Lake and Ice Lake in the San Juan Mountains and it is actually insane. This is roughly an 8 mile hike with 2,647 feet of elevation gain. So it is uphill, but there is no reservation or parking pass required for this hike. This was truly a life-changing hike for me. The views along the way, along with the color of the water is just insane. I highly recommend this hike. And of course, I had to take an alpine dip. And you guys are gonna be mad, but I am gatekeeping this next alpine lake and it's not blown up on TikTok and that's really hard to find in Colorado. All trails said it was about a four and a half mile hike, but we hiked around 7 miles so this alpine lake got caught in a nasty hill storm, but it was worth it. It's one of my favorite alpine lakes.
