Hook
i feel like first-gen, low income pre-meds have more unrealistic goals & are extra hard on themselves it feels like yall sprint & then trip & fall on ur faces (ive been there) I'm not saying that you guys have to take longer, but I feel like you guys are more desperate to go fast because you're like, I have to, so I can make more money, so I can get out of school because it's so expensive. I am you, but like later, after I made all of the mistakes. I would love it if y'all just breathe for a second. And you're like, you know what? If I go a little slower, that's good because I'm doing it right, okay? Because sometimes when you try to go really, really fast, you end up falling on your face. And I'm not saying if you go slow, you're not gonna fall on your face. But like, maybe you'll make like a little bit less mistakes, maybe you'll calculate a couple breaks in there for you because there are more hurdles and barriers that you need to overcome that other people don't have, okay? Other people have parents that make thousands of dollars that are willing to like buy them programs that you can't afford, okay? We're gonna be in for the long haul. And I don't want you guys to burn out. This is out of love. I'm saying you have to take longer, I'm saying you have to be smarter, okay? And you have to be realistic with yourself of like, are these expectations realistic or are they crazy? And if I take a little longer, am I gonna beat myself up and then give up entirely? I hope not. We need you. We need you. Okay? If you make mistakes, that's normal. That's okay. I love you. Dust yourself off. Pick yourself up. And just keep taking steps in the right direction, okay? You got this.
