Hook
I don't know what young girl needs to hear this, but this advice that I got recently that I wish I got way back in the day. And it's about people talking badly about you. So yes, people are going to talk about you. It's not always going to be nice, especially if you're like a bubbly, happy, giggly girl. You're going to set some people off. And it's not because you necessarily did anything wrong. It's because there's something about you that stirs up tension and conflict within them. They see something in you that they either don't like about themselves or that they want to like about themselves and you're out here living with it comfortably. And that's naturally going to upset some people. So just remember that one, it's not about you. But two, okay, what do we do with that now? Because it's one thing to know that. It's another to practice it. You know, when you're going through your mailbox and you're like, okay, here's junk mail. We don't even have to open up the mail. We can just see who it's from and we're like, they're trying to sell me something. This is junk. Throw it out. Throw it out. And then there's some from a sender where you're like, okay, this is important. I should probably look at this. Like scan over it, leave some things, leave some things. And that's fine. And then there's some mail that's like, love letters, a wedding invite, things like that that you're excited to read from people that you know and love. Your gossip that comes back to you is just like that. If the sender, the person who's gossiping, does not know you or does not genuinely care about you and want you to be better and have good intentions for you, then you can treat it like junk mail and throw it out. You don't even have to look at the contents of the gossip because nine times out of 10, it has everything to do with what they hate about themselves or their own projections about themselves and not about you. So to those things, we can throw it out. If someone you love is giving you actual feedback, then we can take it in and digest it and do what we need to do to be a better person. But aside from that, throw it out. If someone you love is giving you actual feedback, then we can take it in and digest it and do what we need to do to be a better person.
