TWEEN CULTURE IS DEAD

Tween culture is dead. And there's no one to blame except for society. I saw the smooth board that made me sad because kids these days will never understand what it was like to beg your mom for every accessory. There's nothing that catered towards tweens anymore. It's all one and the same. There's no reason I should be bumping into a 12-year-old shopping at Garage for our sleek scoop camis, but there is a reason. And the reason is because there's nothing catered towards the tweens anymore. There's no more justice. There's no more swag. There's no more justice. There's no more. Like I saw a video of a 12-year-old getting ready with me for my first day of middle school. And she used all the same products as me, a 24-year-old woman. There's no more makeup catered towards tweens. Like what happened in the baby lipsticks, the EOs, you know? Like I can't blame the kids, I can't blame the parents. I can only blame society because there's nothing catered towards the tweens. As someone who's "aesthetic" aka things that I'm drawn to are very much tween culture centered (bright colors, sparkles, etc.) I don't know who I would be if I didn't experience tween culture. It's so upsetting because I literally don't know who I would be if I didn't go through that awkward phase of my life. Just like the tween aesthetic. No, like, you know what I'm talking about? Because now it's an aesthetic. It should have been nostalgic. It shouldn't be nostalgic. It should still be accessible for the tweens. There's no more online space for them. There's no more shows catered towards them. They have to watch our shows, like I Carly and Victorious because they don't exist anymore. And I don't know what we can do to like bring this back, but I honestly just feel so bad for the tweens because they're forced to grow up so fast because there's nothing left for them. And that needs to change.
