You won't believe it, but the frog's body has the same organs as a human. Heart, lungs, intestines, liver, kidneys, pancreas, brain, and even the spinal cord. They all function just like in humans. The only difference is that they are smaller and simpler. Reason number two: A full body without a disguise. But if you have to cut a mouse or a rabbit, you'll face thick fur, thick skin, and heavy flesh, which can take hours to reach the organs. But a frog's body is almost transparent. Thin skin, less flesh, and a single cut reveal the heart, lungs, intestines, liver, stomach, kidneys, pancreas, brain, and spinal cord. This is why medical and biology students find frogs to be the best teaching model. It's cheap, easy, and durable. You can see its size, it's not too big to take up space, nor too small to be invisible. It can be easily preserved in formalin for months. This is why frogs have become the most used dissection animal in labs worldwide. But a question remains: Is the frog alive during dissection? Yes, in the old days, frogs were anesthetized and then dissected. And those who survived that process died within days due to their wounds. Fortunately, times have changed. Today, most countries have banned frog dissection. In labs, the frogs used are already dead and preserved with chemicals. Virtual dissection and 3D models allow us to replicate the anatomy of frogs and humans on computer screens. Students can cut and learn about each organ on the screen. But the reality is that this small, ordinary frog laid the foundation for medical science, on which thousands of doctors stand today.
