3 tips for tattooing black/brown skin. 3 tips for tattooing black and brown skin. Bold lines. High contrast. I don't use every shade of grey wash. I use medium, light, and sometimes extra light depending on how melanated my clients are. So that way when it heals, the contrast in the tattoo. Negative spacing is a great tip for tattooing melanated clients also because it allows the tattoo to be legible from across the room. If you're doing black and grey or color, you have to know your client's skin how well it is allowing you to deposit the ink whether it's color or black and grey. And that's with any skin tone to be honest.
