As a client, you kind of need to understand everything that goes into the tattoo process. That is the artist's time to think about the idea, to do the mock-ups, to do the sketches. They have to set up their station, using their money to pay for equipment and supplies that they can only use to tattoo you. So imagine if an artist has taken the hours to draw up your design, to think about it, to set up their station, and then you ghost them. You've wasted their time, their money. So that's why artists love to charge deposits. That's why every artist needs to charge a deposit. It's not to punish anybody. It's like, hey, this is how me, as an artist, that my time is being invested and not wasted.
