Talking to choice feminists about cosmetic surgery

I think it's a little weird to surgically alter your face to fit a beauty standard that you had no say in creating. Oh, so you don't think women should have the right to choose what they do with their own body? No, I just don't really buy the claim that it's empowering to take a knife to your face to change the way you look. But it's empowering to me. But why is it empowering to you? Like why is it empowering to have a smaller nose or like fuller lips? It's empowering because I like the way that it feels. But like, have you considered why you like the way that it feels? Like what other influences that might be happening, like white supremacy, like, like, have you considered the factors that might be making you want to have a thin nose? There are no other factors that play. I just want it. So you think that like, if you lived in a society where there was no pretty privilege, there was no hierarchy of beauty, everybody just had a face that they were born with and nobody changed the way they looked, there was no prettiness, we were like animals. You think you would still go out of your way to get a nose job to make your nose smaller? Yeah, I would do that because it's empowering to me.
