If you're looking to get your first watch, you should not buy a Seiko 5. Hi, my name is Joe. I've been wearing watches for a couple years now, but really started collecting them a couple months ago. Everywhere you go on the internet when you first start looking up what should my first watch be, what's the first watch I should buy? Everybody tells you to get a Seiko 5. Now, I'm not gonna tell you that Seiko 5s are bad watches. I love Seiko. I think Seiko 5s are beautiful. I think they're very affordable for what you get for the price. But I think if you're looking to get a watch that you're gonna be wearing almost every day, a Seiko 5 is a little bit limiting, not only in aesthetic, but also in comfortability. In my opinion, the best watches to wear every single day for every activity that you don't have to worry about are field watches. And I think there's a lot of really, really great inexpensive field watches that you could invest in. The first, in my main recommendation would be a Timex Expedition. These watches are rugged, they're extremely inexpensive, and most importantly, they're comfortable to wear on your wrist all day. If Casio is more your speed, they have something called a Forester. It's essentially their version of the Timex Expedition. As a backup, inexpensive recommendation, I would also recommend the Timex Weekender. Now this isn't expressly a field watch, but you can get these with NATO straps and I think they're beautiful. And you can get them for around $35 and they're awesome.
