I will guess your first job since I know those eyes are a bit scary, aren't they? Yeah... I dunno... I'll guess your first job in two minutes if you can tell me what you did. Excellent. Gary, welcome to the career ladder. Hope you don't have to hold your bladder cause it's time for the career ladder? How old were you when you were doing this? 14-15. Yeah. Was it legal? No. Did you make money? No. Was it closer as a footballer or as a pundit? A footballer. How did you get into this? My parents. What are some of the skills that you learned as a footballer and as a pundit that were helpful back then? To work hard and be on time. That's important? Hmm. Deliver on time. Mostly work with your mind or with your hands? Feet? Legs and hands. How has this job changed? 30 years? They become more popular, less popular? I would say more popular. What country is the best at this job? Oh gee, that's difficult. America, England, Germany, France, all got different age- Every country, Hong Kong. Would I be good at it? Not right now. I see, so you need ACL for it. Well, you need to be able to walk around with it. You wouldn't be able to have your hands free, so you have a problem. Do you use ladders in that job? No. Is it more difficult than football? It can be, but it's not. When you started doing punditry... Have you had two minutes yet? Doing punditry, was it straight away? No, I wasn't good at it straight away. What did you do to improve? Do more of it. I see. And in this first job, erm, it's a basic skill, but one that needs concentration. Is it a sport? No. You were paid for it though? What?? Okay, so you were not paid for it. Your body though, and your legs, and it wasn't... You were helping the players? No. The audience? Like a, like a steward? My mum was club secretary, but my mum used to also do the food for the sponsor's lounges, the boardroom, underneath part of the stadiums where the hospitality was.
