Instead of asking somebody what their favourite colour is, ask them what their dreams are, what their biggest fears are and how they drink their coffee in the morning. Ask about their favourite season and their favourite book. Ask them what they look for in other people and what they hope to find in you. Ask about all the things that no one ever sees, the thoughts that they keep to themselves, the parts of them that don't fit in small talk, that no one ever gets to actually see. And then if you're still sitting together after all that conversation, then you can ask them what their favourite colour is. Because you shouldn't settle for the surface version of somebody. It's boring. Look for the real one, the messy one, the beautiful one, the unfiltered one. Because that one, that's the one that you're probably gonna wanna stay with.
