How is it already a month?! I just miss him so much. I really leaned into receiving signs from him, and got so many comforting signs. I also started reading “Signs” by @Laura Lynne Jackson and that’s been such a validating read to know that I’m not losing it. In regards to coping... you just kinda have to force yourself to move through it you know? It’s so tough when the world doesn’t stop for you. Because all you want to do on most days is sob, scream and throw tantrums. You want to sulk and cry at how unfair the world is. But carrying something of Mochi’s (his leash, his vial or fur or something with his face with me makes it a bit easier to get through the day - like l’m closer to him. I’ve tried my best to really up my self-care and take care of myself... somatic therapy and a lot of massages targeting areas where we’re known to store grief. Not suppressing any waves of grief has been very helpful too. I just cry in front of everyone, even if I’m at work (l’ll just excuse myself and finish out the wave). I don’t want to run away from grief, because grief is evidence that deep love exists. It is just love transformed, so l want to learn to be friends with it. There is simply no other way to put that losing a pet is like losing your family. Your best friend, dependent, emotional support, routines... all gone. It feels empty, purposeless, lonely and dark. But I also know I am doing my best at every given moment to honour myself and Mochi, and that is truly enough. The goal for me is not to “get over it” or “move on...” it’s to be friends with my grief. You are not alone ❤️🩹 #petloss #dog #petgrief #grief #cancer
