Why it worked

The video uses a relatable scenario of an unexpected visitor and leverages the functionality of a smart doorbell to create a humorous and engaging interaction. The "paid partnership" disclosure and the creator's own handle suggest this was likely a sponsored post designed to showcase the product's features in a natural, everyday context.

Summary

A student is surprised when his girlfriend shows up at his apartment unexpectedly, only to realize she's using his Blink doorbell camera to communicate with him while he's in class. He explains the doorbell's features to her before needing to end the call to attend his lecture.

Structure

1Student is alone in class, expecting no visitors.
2Student receives a notification from his Blink doorbell.
3Student communicates with his girlfriend via the doorbell, confused by her presence.

Product placement

Blink acts: it is a doorbell camera that sends notifications to a phone, allowing two-way communication. Removing it would mean the user wouldn't know someone was at the door or be able to communicate with them. Blink appears: it is a watermark in the top left corner of the screen during the doorbell camera footage. Removing it would not change what happens in the video.

Transcript

Class starts in 5 minutes and of course I'm the first person here. Wait a minute. Is that my girlfriend? What is she doing at my apartment? Blink. Blink. Hey, where are you at? Hey, babe, why are you at my apartment? You know my class is about to start. Well, I'm not entirely sure what to do about that. I don't know either. Is this a doorbell? Oh yeah, it's the Blink 2K doorbell. It's pretty cool. I can chat and see you even when I'm not there. Oh, that's cool. So are we still going out tonight because I really want to try that Italian place? I don't know about Italian. How about Mr. McKenna, are you ready to start class? Alright, babe, I have to go. I'll see you tonight.
