After having a great experience with an Aritzia personal styling session last year, I decided to book another one because they've been all over my for you page lately and I do have an upcoming trip to New York that I could use some new clothes for. And for those who don't know, these styling sessions are completely free. You get paired up with a stylist, you send them inspo pictures, and then when you arrive at your appointment, all of the pieces they pulled are already waiting for you on the racks, which I think is super cool. The hard thing about these sessions is that yes, you did send inspo pictures to your stylist, but they don't know what you look like, they don't know what styles are the most flattering for your body type, and that became very clear to me very quickly. For example, this outfit, and there's absolutely no shade here, but I don't think a 26-year-old would wear this and it's also giving catering uniform, which I have worn in the past and that wasn't really the vibe that I was going for. Also this outfit, these shorts paired with this jacket, not something I would necessarily pick out for myself and I really did not like how it looked on. After I got home, I immediately started binge watching other people's styling videos just to kind of get a feel for what outfits they were trying on and what pieces were being styled together and I think it's just clear that my style and the stylist's style just was not in sync, which is totally fine. You might want to add in some extra details when messaging them before your appointment.
