LOW SETTING, OPEN BASKET, FULL SPARKLE. ✨ A lot of clients tell me the same thing: “I want my diamond to sit low on my finger… but I don’t want a heavy basket underneath it.” That’s exactly why I love this setting. For this 4CT oval, we created a very low-profile setting with an almost completely hollow basket underneath the center stone. Instead of building a complicated metal structure around the diamond, the center is mainly secured by four prongs and one hidden halo. That’s it. The result is a setting that feels incredibly open and clean from the side. And there’s another reason I like leaving the bottom open: I don’t want unnecessary metal visually surrounding the diamond. With less metal underneath, you can see much more of the stone from the side, and the diamond keeps that bright, airy appearance instead of feeling enclosed inside a heavy basket. The hidden halo gives us extra sparkle and structural detail around the base, while the four prongs keep the center stone secure without making the entire setting look bulky. So from the top, you still get the full presence of a 4CT oval. From the side, the diamond sits noticeably lower. And underneath, instead of seeing a complicated basket, you see an open, minimal structure. This is one of my favorite settings for someone who says: “I want a low setting, but I don’t want my diamond to feel hidden.” You don’t always need more metal to create a beautiful setting.
