I decided to do back-to-school shopping differently this year and it has made such a big difference. School is back soon and a recent Capital One Canada survey found that 80% of parents will try to save money on back-to-school purchases this year, which I can definitely relate to as a mom of two. So, here are three things I'm doing differently this year to get ahead. Firstly, I'm actually planning ahead, which is where Capital One's Life and Credit blog has been super helpful in giving me ideas to save. I sat down and made a list of what we need before we get to the store, so we're not adding in extra items and it can actually help me budget better. Secondly, instead of buying everything new, I'm looking to supplies we already have at home so we don't have to overspend. And finally, I'm investing in the best for things I do buy. Kids can be a little bit rough, so getting high-quality items for things that get a lot of wear and tear can go a long way. Simple changes can make a big difference, and Capital One has simple and practical products that help Canadians succeed and reach their financial goals.
