Transforming this beautiful young woman from the Algarve, Vitória, in such an incredible way was a challenge. It had been a long time since I had seen hair with this much volume and so much density. It didn’t look like it at first. I was surprised — and I’ll say it again: I was truly surprised by the density of this hair and the amount of volume it created while I was cutting it. The idea, and I’ll get to the haircut in a moment, was to make it practical and easy for her to style and manage at home. I used several different cutting techniques. At the back of the head, I used a 50-degree angle to create this slightly textured bob. At the front, I used a 30-degree angle technique, with a slight deepening towards the fringe. Then I had to remove some of the excess volume internally, working locally through specific areas of the hair. Finally, I had to clean up the ends throughout the entire haircut. It was an incredible transformation on a beautiful young woman whose goal was precisely this haircut. Achieving this look took an hour and a half of cutting alone. A very bold bob on extremely challenging hair. A look I highly recommend for all women this rentrée. DM
