My mom was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis when I was 8 years old and that is when my family caregiver journey began. I moved out when I was 18 and she's lived in a nursing home for the last 11 years but I'm still the main contact, difficult decision maker, and the person who is there to advocate for her whenever she needs it. That's why being part of Petro-Canada's Give A Honk campaign is so meaningful to me. This campaign recognizes family caregivers across the country with the Goose keychain, and as part of it, I had the chance to take a trip to the iconic Goose in Wawa, Ontario. For me, the Goose feels like such a symbol of family caregiving. It's fierce, protective, and it sticks with the ones he loves, even when it's not easy, and that is exactly what family caregiving has looked like for me my entire life. You can show your support for family caregivers by getting your own Goose Keychain for just $1 at Petro-Canada gas stations, and Petro-Canada will donate $3 to the CareMakers Foundation.
