There's a new spot in Charlotte serving up handmade dumplings and today we're checking out Juicy Dumpling near University Boulevard. The second we walked in we were immediately wowed by the interior. It's modern and cozy, but my favorite part was this window where you can actually watch them hand-wrap the dumplings. It was so cool being able to see them being made right in front of us. We ordered quite a bit, starting with the pork and chives pan-fried dumplings. These were probably some of the juiciest dumplings I've had in a while. The bottoms were perfectly golden and crispy and the filling was savory, juicy, and packed with that pork and chive flavor. Personally, I would have preferred a slightly thinner wrapper, but overall these were really good. And I love that you can create your own dipping sauce here. Every table comes with chili oil, soy sauce, and vinegar so you can mix it up exactly how you like. Next we tried the spicy and sour shrimp and pork dumplings, and if you know me, you know I love anything spicy and sour. This one hits all the right spots. The broth was tangy and flavorful but still really light and clean. We just needed a spice to balance out that sourness. The dumpling itself was so soft, tender, and juicy, and honestly, I could not stop sipping on the broth. We also got the dry spicy beef brisket noodles, and the second I saw those noodles, I already knew I was going to love the texture. They have the perfect chewy, bouncy bite I look for in noodles, and they soaked up so much of that spicy, savory sauce. And can we talk about the beef brisket? It was so soft and tender. Don't let those chilies intimidate you because the heat was manageable. And of course, we always have room for something sweet, so we ended our meal with the chocolate xiao long bao. It's basically a sweet melted chocolate filling wrapped inside a dumpling wrapper, and it was so decadent and chocolatey. If you're a chocolate lover, you're definitely going to want to try this. Overall, I would definitely come back here whenever I'm craving dumplings. Everyone was so sweet and attentive, and I love being able to watch the dumplings being made right in front of us. So if you're in Charlotte and looking for a new food spot, definitely come check out Juicy Dumpling.
