Hook
If you're starting uni today, tomorrow, this week, this month, this September, isn't it? Please do not be fooled by social media because people are going to make it look like they are having the best time and unintentionally, people are just going to post the group of people that they met two days ago and going to think, oh my god, this person's made friends, this person's made friends. Everyone's finding their people so quickly. And no one is going to post the times that they're sat in their room alone and they're crying because they're homesick and overwhelmed and there's a lot going on and they don't know what to do, they don't know where to go. No one's posting that. And a lot of people are experiencing that. So just remember that. And if you're experiencing that, remember that it's completely normal. You are going to have to leave your room to meet new people, you're going to have to put yourself out there, you're going to have to experience awkward situations. But embrace the awkwardness. When I'm like in a new social situation and you know, people are like the conversation is out and you're trying to think about what to ask. I just kind of embrace that. Like don't feel like, oh my god, we're not speaking, there's silence. That is completely normal for a new social situation. So just, you know, let that happen. Someone will think of a new topic and you'll start talking again. And you've just met so many things to talk about. So, um, yeah, freshers week is not going to be the best week of your life. I think most people who have graduated will attest to that. Um, and yeah, I think there's a lot of hype online about freshers. You go out, loads of blah blah blah. But actually, freshers can be the most overwhelming period because it's just new, new, new, new, new. Um, so if you're feeling like, oh my god, I hate this, I hate uni, I think, stick it out. Um, it will get better eventually. You'll find your routine. You'll find your people. You'll find, you know, you'll find that you actually love doing this on a weekend or you don't like this person so much, so maybe you want to spend less time with them. You've got a lot of time to figure things out. You've got three years at least. Um, so don't put any pressure to be loving life right now. Think about normal life. Do you love every day of your life right now? No, because that's just life works. So give yourself some grace to adjust to all the new.
