Apple is changing the game with the iPhone 18 release schedule. The base model may see minimal upgrades while we wait. What are your thoughts on this strategy? Apple is breaking a nearly two decade long tradition, splitting the release of the regular and Pro models into two separate parts. In September of 2026, the Pro models will be getting the Pro models and fold models as we'd expect, but you'll have to wait another six months or so until this base iPhone 18, as well as the iPhone 18 Air 2. And while waiting for that new iPhone would be worth it, the base iPhone 18 is sounding pretty underwhelming. Sources say the base iPhone 18 will have an identical design to the current iPhone 17, although very minor dimensional changes, potentially for a larger battery.
