Apple is breaking a nearly two decade long tradition and they are splitting the release of the regular and the pro models into two separate parts. In September of 2026, we'll be getting the pro in full models as we'd expect. But you'll have to wait another six months or so until Apple drops this base iPhone 18 as well as the iPhone 12. And while usually waiting for that new iPhone would be worth it, the base iPhone 18 is sounding pretty underpowered. Sources say the base iPhone 18 will have an identical design to the current iPhone 17. Although with some very minor dimensional changes potentially for a larger battery. The screen will still remain at 6.3 inches, 120 Hz motion and there might be some minor camera upgrades, but nearly everything else will be identical. Some rumors say that Apple will add the smaller dynamic island on the base model, but other rumors say they won't and it's staying the same size.
