Day 8 of walking with Viv… and tonight was HARD. 😮‍💨❤️ We're building my 14-year-old autistic daughter's walking endurance for Disneyland this November, but I'm starting to realize this isn't only about how far she can walk. Tonight we walked in the evening. Viv complained about the sun, picked up sticks, whined and just wasn't enjoying herself. I was exhausted after a really emotional day too. Then something happened. As soon as we got back to our street, she seemed happier. It reminded me of when we trained for New York and unfamiliar routes seemed harder for her because she didn't always know when the walk would end. Maybe evening walks are harder. Maybe predictability matters more than I realized. We're going to keep learning. And despite the rough walk… 1.58 miles ✔️ Her longest yet.
