1. They may never come back. I know. That’s the sentence you don’t want to hear. But you cannot heal while making your peace dependent on a possibility. Maybe they return. Maybe they don’t. Your healing has to work either way. 2. Missing you doesn’t mean they want you back. Someone can think about you. Miss memories. Regret things. Even still love parts of you… and still choose a life without you. Feelings and decisions aren’t always the same thing. Stop turning every possible emotion they might have into evidence of a future you haven’t been given. 3. You may never get the closure you want from them. You may never hear the perfect explanation. You may never get the apology that finally makes everything make sense. And waiting for someone else to finish the story can keep you trapped inside it. Sometimes closure is accepting that you didn’t get the ending you deserved. 4. Their future is no longer yours to control. You may imagine them coming back. You may imagine them regretting everything. You may imagine them with someone else. But you’re living inside a future that hasn’t happened. Stop visiting a life you don’t live in. Come back to the one that’s actually in front of you. 5. Your life cannot stay paused until they make another decision. This is the hardest one. Because if they came back tomorrow, you’d probably want everything to change. But what happens if they don’t? Do you spend another year waiting? Another birthday? Another holiday? Another opportunity? Another version of yourself? At some point, you have to stop asking when they’re coming back… and start asking: “How much of my life am I willing to lose waiting for an answer I may never receive?” Because moving forward isn’t saying: “I don’t love you anymore.” It’s saying: “I love myself enough to stop making my life dependent on whether you ever love me enough to return.” And maybe that’s the acceptance you’ve been avoiding. Not that they left. That they might stay gone. And if they do… you will still be here. Still breathing. Still capable of loving. Still capable of becoming. Still capable of building a life that doesn’t require their return to make it meaningful. Stop waiting for the person who left to give you permission to live again.
