UPDATE: ADOPTED ❤️ *PLEASE BE AWARE OF FAKE RESCUES CLAIMING THEY HAVE ROCCO, HAPPY PAWS HAVEN WILL SCAM YOU* - Rocco has a note on his kennel card that says “Experienced Volunteers Only,” and I worry about what someone walking through the shelter might assume when they see that. They might think he’s difficult or a “problem dog.” But that couldn’t have been further from the Rocco I met yesterday. He was the sweetest, happiest, wiggliest boy. He was easy to leash, easy to walk, and at only about 52 pounds, he wasn’t difficult to handle at all. He pulled a little on leash, but nothing crazy. Rocco does have an aggression disclosure for handling sensitivities. When he first arrived at the shelter and was assessed, he was nervous, uncomfortable, and didn’t love being touched. Because of that initial behavior, he was given this label. But dogs aren’t always the same dog they were when they first walked through the shelter doors. Yesterday, I was able to touch Rocco all over. He melted into me. He leaned into my body and desperately wanted affection. He wanted to be pet, loved on, and close to me 🥺 His time here and his interactions with volunteers have allowed him to come out of his shell, and the dog I met today was incredibly affectionate and sweet.
