She’s been waiting 4 months 😔As soon as I walked by Dahlia’s kennel, I knew she was the dog I wanted to take home. The volunteers showed me other dogs, but my heart was pretty set on her. Dogs like Dahlia are the ones I know need the extra help. She’s a senior, she has some medical stuff going on, and she’s also one of the longest residents at Harbor (she’s been here since MAY😢). Even if I could only give a dog one day outside of their kennel, I really wanted it to be her. The volunteers really pushed for me to take her too, but unfortunately staff ultimately said no because she had overheated in her kennel the day before. Which honestly just made me want to give her a break from that kennel even more 😭 but they were pretty set on not letting her go. So I ended up taking Cajeta home instead, and obviously I’m SO happy I did. I absolutely fell in love with her and had the best weekend with her. But I still haven’t stopped thinking about Dahlia. there was just something about her that sat really heavy on my heart. She’s available for adoption at the Harbor Animal Shelter in San Pedro. I know senior dogs can be scary because you know you probably won’t get as much time with them, but there is something so special about giving an older dog the chance to spend whatever time they do have left being loved, comfortable and finally in a home. They deserve that too. Animal ID A2273467 Senior 7+ / 68lbs / needs to be the only pet in the home. At the shelter since May 18.
