i'm 53. i held a horse stance for one minute a day, every day, for a month. feet wide, thighs as close to parallel as i could manage, knees pushed out. seven things i noticed change: 🦵 1. i stopped bracing before i stood up somewhere around day ten. one minute of holding doesn't drain your legs. it builds the thighs that do the standing for the other twenty three hours. 🪜 2. stairs stopped announcing themselves i used to know how many flights were coming. now i don't count. 🧎‍♀️ 3. i can get up off the floor without a hand this is one of the best predictors of independence past 70, and almost nobody practises it. 🦿 4. my knees stopped complaining on the way down this surprised me most. the joint didn't need rest. it needed the muscle around it to take the load. 🦴 5. my hips opened enough to sit cross legged again the wide stance did that. hip rotation is the first range to go and nobody trains it. 🚶 6. my legs stopped feeling heavy by late afternoon that four o'clock heaviness isn't tiredness. it's circulation that has been sitting since morning because nothing pushed it back up. 🧍 7. i stand taller without thinking about it posture isn't willpower. it's whether the muscles that hold you up are still doing their job. one minute. no equipment. you can do it while the kettle boils. feet wider than your hips, toes turned out slightly, sit down between your heels, knees pushed out over your toes. if a minute is too long, start at twenty seconds. twenty seconds still counts. follow along and i'll show you the rest of what i actually do 💛 💛 send this to a friend who thinks it's too late to start i'm not a doctor, i'm just your average 53 year old. #NAD #USA #womenover50 #strengthover50 #healthyaging
