Why it worked

The video successfully gamifies a mundane chore by linking the trade-in process to a relatable, desirable outcome (a free date night), making the service feel like a 'hack' rather than a standard advertisement.

Summary

The creator demonstrates using an ecoATM kiosk to sell an old phone for cash, which she then uses to fund a date night at a farmers market. The video serves as a testimonial for the convenience and financial benefit of the ecoATM service.

Structure

1Creator poses the question of funding a date with an old phone
2Demonstrates checking the phone's value on the ecoATM website
3Shows the process of using the ecoATM kiosk to receive cash

Product placement

(a) ecoATM: The interface is operated to evaluate a phone and dispense cash. Removing it would change the video entirely as it is the central mechanism of the narrative. (b) Alo: A logo appears on the creator's clothing. Removing it would not change the video.

Transcript

Can my old phone pay for an entire date night? I found this old phone sitting in my drawer, so I wanted to see if it could pay for a dinner. I checked what it could be worth on ecoATM.com, brought it to an ecoATM kiosk, and ended up getting 110 bucks in cash for a phone I wasn't even using anymore. So that became our budget for the night. We went to a farmers market, I got Mexican food, and my husband got a pizza, and we even have money left for dessert. Mission accomplished, an old phone paid for our dinner. If you have an old phone sitting around too, check what yours could be worth at ecoATM.com.
