How do they make that microscopic hole inside a needle? A lot of people think they drill it with some tiny little drill bit. But the truth is way more interesting. These insanely thin needles actually start as big metal tubes. Yeah, seriously. At first, it's just a thick hollow metal tube. Then, at the factory, it goes through a pretty intense process called drawing. The metal tube is pulled again and again through tiny cone-shaped dies. Every time it passes through, the metal gets longer and thinner. They repeat this process over and over until the tube becomes thinner than a human hair and turns into a needle. And here's the coolest part: the hole inside isn't made later. It was there from the very beginning. It just shrinks down with the tube until it becomes microscopic. Send this to someone who's scared of needles.
