If you’ve ever left a doctor’s appointment feeling gaslit, unheard or like your pain just wasn’t taken seriously - then this post is for you! For 10 years I was told my endometriosis symptoms were “just bad periods” or a personal fave I was being “dramatic” because this happens to “all women”…and just WISH I’d have known these phrases existed back then! I’m sorry this post even exists because it highlights the need to fiery advocate for yourself, when in reality, we should get help when we ask for it. But sadly it’s not the world we live in right now, or at least the experience we have with every doctor - so they’re great to have in your tool belt if you need! I’m EXTRA raged by the impact medical dismissal has on us, because the psychological impact is MASSIVE. We dove into this and more on how to advocate for yourself on the finally found podcast over on @found.womenshealth which is a platform made to support people like us, who are looking for answers and feeling a bit fed up, so follow along on there if you want to learn from the GOAT of health psychology because our episode is out soon b …but for now, if you want to learn more about anti-inflamamtory living, the thing I WISH I was taught about, that helped get rid of my painful periods and horrendous bloating, join me in the 30 day reset (link is in my bio!!)…there’s almost 300 women doing it with me, and id love to see you there!! And YES…our health psychologist WILL be making an appearance… Save this for your next appointment. Share it with someone who needs to hear it. And remember… you deserve to be listened to! All my love, Soph xx #womenshealth #endometriosis #medicaladvocacy #chronicillness #advocateforyourself
