I'm 34 years old, I'm in a long-term relationship, and I think about children every single day. Not in a way that you'd think. And I keep thinking like, is that what I want for my future? I saw a post the other day about a girl my age, she's also very unsure if she wants children, and so naturally I went to the comments. Somebody had put on the comments, "As a mother of two, don't." And naturally, I read the comments underneath that, and she was getting attacked by other women saying that, "How can you say that when you've got children?" And somebody else put another comment underneath, which summed up the way I feel perfectly: "You can love your children, but you don't love motherhood." And I think that's the fear embedded in me. I know I've got a lot of love to give. I've got a niece who I love unconditionally, but I've got my dog who I love and I am obsessed with unconditionally. I work for myself, I have a lot of time, and I've had people in the past say to me, "You've got the perfect life to be a mother, you can go do whatever you want." And I'm like, "Yeah, exactly that. That's the life I've created for myself. I want to be able to go do whatever I want, whenever I want." It's also really hard as a 34-year-old woman, every other person around me having a baby, or trying for a baby, or has a baby, is going on to their third child. I mean, there's people that I went to school with that is on third child. Whenever I see or my friends tell me that they're pregnant and they're having a family, I think that is absolutely amazing. What a blessing, it is beautiful, amazing. But there isn't an ounce of me that's like, "I wish that was me." I guess it's safe to say I am still so unsure about motherhood and whether or not I want children. Anybody else out there that feels the way that I do? Firstly, you're not alone. And secondly, let me know in the comments.
