Gonzalo Pizarro creates portraits on OSB, a construction board made from compressed wood strands. Using ink and charcoal, the Argentine artist builds the shadows while leaving the wood’s natural tones to form the light. Rather than hiding the rough surface, he makes it part of the image. The irregular fragments break up the features, yet come together into a recognizable face. It’s a fascinating balance between the detail he adds and the texture already waiting in the board.
