🇰🇷🇵🇭 | Department of National Defense Sec. Gilberto "Gibo" Teodoro, Jr. when asked during an interview with Korean media Korea JoongAng Daily about the KF-21 Boramae acquisition, stated that he cannot divulge yet the selected MRF unit for the Philippine Air Force, since he's still arranging the financing and funding for the Multi-Role Fighter program. He added that this is the first step, and once he finalized the financing, he will announce the selected platform, most likely the KF-21. Korean JoongAng Daily believes that Korea Aerospace Industries' (KAI) KF-21 Boramae is considered as a strong and a leading contender for the Philippines' multirole fighter program as the Philippines seeks to strengthen its capabilities in the face of Chinese hostility. Korean-built frigates such as the Jose Rizal-class Frigates and Miguel Malvar-class Frigates, as well as OPVs like the Sulayman-class OPVs serve as key vessels in the Philippine Navy, while Korea's FA-50s, with the additional FA-50 Block-70 fighter jets play a major role in its air force.
