I think the movie Dirty Dancing has been hiding something for about 40 years because everybody talks about what they filmed at Mountain Lake Lodge, but nobody ever told me what the hell else was up there. I knew that this place was Kellerman's. That's why Mountain Lake was even on my radar. But then I actually got the chance to stay here. And first I'm finding breakfast, lunch, Mary's Market, a tavern, and then I find out that the hotel sits on a 2600 acre nature preserve with about 22 miles of trails. And then I find out that you can grab one of these golf carts and ride around the property instead of walking all that way. There's a pool, there's a spa, a fitness room, a library, and shoot, they even gave me somewhere to wash the clothes I just got dirty hiking. And let me tell you, it's the little stuff. The welcome basket, finding some quiet corner of that old lodge just to sit and relax in. They finished my night by playing Dirty Dancing outside on a big screen exactly where they filmed the movie. So I guess I'll take back what I originally said. Dirty Dancing didn't hide Mountain Lake, it just didn't show us everything. I left Mountain Lake Lodge tagged right there above my name.
