Hook
One thing I'll never believe if someone says it is when they go "I don't think friends is funny." I haven't left once. Not once. Or you're just sitting there like, don't play semantics. Well, I didn't technically left. Don't do that. I feel like in most TV shows, all the characters seem to center around this one sense of humor. But the thing that sticks out to me about friends is that the characters are so distinct. It might as well be six different senses of humor and you didn't identify with one of them. Humorous objective. Yeah, but the people usually saying that have Fortnite memes and AI brain rot and their reposts. I feel like you gotta earn the authority to make a statement like that. Meanwhile, you can't even find comedy in real videos. You can always tell people are saying this to be contrary to, like, they never actually watched friends until much later because everyone was talking about it. And they went in with expectations of like, "I can't be that funny." I'm not gonna laugh. Well, yeah, of course you're not gonna laugh. You've already decided in your mind you weren't going to do. And yeah, I can admit there's some cheesy ass lines in the show, but I think they've been made cheesy by how quotable they are. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "pivot" or "we were on a break." But I see those bloopers of the pivot scene and I still laugh. Like I'm watching it for the first time because I recognize that they're laughing at saying it for the first time. Even if friends is not for you, you can not tell me that the show doesn't have good writing. That the characters aren't well developed. It just doesn't make sense.
