After allegedly failing
to stop at a red light,
a white sports utility vehicle
(SUV) turned and collided
at speed with a young boy.
As seen on
dashcam footage,
the 11-year-old was slowly
riding his scooter across
a pedestrian crossing
along Ang Mo Kio Ave 10
on the evening of Sept 22
when this happened.
Following the accident,
the SUV driver allegedly
refused to lend the boy
a phone
or help him call his family,
despite the boy's
handphone being lost
or damaged,
according to his mother.
The driver then sent the boy
back to his block's
void deck,
but left him to a stranger to
bring him up to his home.
The police said they were
alerted to the accident at
about 7.55pm, and that
a 42-year-old male car
driver is assisting with
ongoing investigations.
