A lot of people complain about Santorini being a bit too far, so I found one in the Dominican Republic. This place is called Grecialandia, and this might be the closest thing to a Greek town you'll find in the whole Caribbean. It's a Greek-inspired spot sitting in the mountains that basically gives you a little taste of Santorini, or at least to make it look like it. And if you're coming to Puerto Plata on a cruise, this is probably one of the more unexpected places that you can check out. You can get a day pass for around $25 or pay a little bit more if you want to have food included. And realistically, you can probably spend two or three hours here just walking around, sightseeing, and taking photos. Since you're basically sitting on top of a mountain, you can get some really nice views overlooking Puerto Plata. You can look at the mountains, the ocean, and even your cruise ship sitting at the port at a distance. They also have two pools you can jump into and you can grab some authentic Dominican food while you're here with some great views. But overall, I wouldn't dedicate an entire day to it, but if you're coming to Puerto Plata, especially on a cruise, I think it's a really cool way to spend a couple hours, get some photos, enjoy the views, and you still have plenty of time to explore somewhere else. But yeah, if you want to stand out from everybody else's itinerary and say that you went to Santorini for the day, this is a place to add to your itinerary.
