I’m visiting an Afar community in Ethiopia and learning about traditional hair-care techniques that have been used for generations. For this curly hair routine, I’m using sesame leaf mucilage, a naturally slippery gel-like substance released from the leaves when they’re prepared with water. The Afar have traditionally used plant-based ingredients like this for hair care and styling, so I wanted to see how it would work on my type 4 hair. The definition came out way better than I expected 😭 I’m so glad I came here to experience this in person.
