Why did no one warn me that buying my first horse would come with the added bonus of having a full blown identity crisis every time winter gets mentioned? So, as a first-time novice horse owner with an exceptionally green five-year-old, I'm quickly realizing that I might have slightly underestimated what I'm getting myself into, because everywhere I turn people are warning me about how difficult winter is. Considering I'm still learning the basics, I am starting to panic a little bit. We're currently still on DIY livery, but I'm not even going to lie, I genuinely have considered putting Luna on full livery over the winter, just until I get a little bit more confident and actually know what I'm doing. Even though we're still on DIY, which means today was a full muck out day and a much needed fresh bed for my little diva. We're trying out some straw pellets for the base for the very first time, so I'm interested to see how we get on with those. And I've topped it off with some citronella scented shavings. Honestly, this horse is living better than I am. Her bed smells absolutely incredible, and I'll keep you updated on how the straw pellets hold up, because if they make mucking out any easier, I'm sold. Never thought as a novice I'd be learning how to look after my own horse, but I'm determined to make this work with Luna. And whilst all this is going on, I'm also trying to turn my biggest dream in becoming a full-time content creator into an actual career. After going through a breakup from a long-term relationship in April, I've literally thrown so much energy into growing this account, partly because I love creating content and partly because it gives me something positive to focus on and stop me from going insane. The goal was originally 10k followers by the end of the year, but I had a little panic and changed it to 5k because I genuinely thought 10k was completely unrealistic. But we're now over 4k, which means 5k is actually starting to feel achievable, and I cannot believe how close we're getting. Maybe if we hit 5k soon, I'll be able to change it back to ten, wishful thinking, eh?
