I love watching all the butterflies, bees, and other visitors on my butterfly bushes. But I understand the debate—they can spread invasively in some regions and crowd out native plants. They provide nectar, but they don’t replace the host plants butterfly caterpillars need. That’s why I grow milkweed and other native species too.
