Would you take a dinosaur for a walk? 🦖 Italian sculptor Mariaelena Mariotti, known as the “Mother of the Dinosaurs,” creates prehistoric creatures and photographs them as if they belong in everyday life. A dinosaur on a leash suddenly feels less like something from a museum and more like a companion waiting for its next adventure. Her fascination began in childhood after watching Jurassic Park, encouraged by a grandfather who gave her a dinosaur encyclopedia and toys. She later studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, developing that early obsession into sculptures ranging from tiny babies to large creatures. Her materials vary between projects, including resin and beeswax, which she uses to give their skin a lifelike appearance. There’s a personal tenderness behind the work, too. Mariotti once sculpted a baby Triceratops in the same curled-up pose as her beloved dog. That detail captures the charm of these images: creatures we usually imagine as distant or intimidating become familiar, vulnerable, and surprisingly easy to feel affection for. 🤍 Artist: @MotherOfTheDinosaurs #art #sculpture #photography #creativity #artist
