Are you looking for your next romantasy obsession?

If you're looking for your next romantasy obsession, look no further because I have just the book for you. And this book has everything I want in a romantasy. The Court of Venus by Bel Banta. A unique Tudor-based romantasy with astrology-based magic, political intrigue, murder, and a painfully, yet beautiful slow burn romance. We follow Bianca Mortlake, a moonborn magician, the first in over 1,000 years whose powers are so rare that no one really knows what she's capable of. After living away from court, she is summoned back into this dangerous world of royals, magic, and secrets after a murder has occurred. And upon her return, she is forced to team up with Roland, her childhood rival and probably the last person she wants to rely on. What I loved about this book first and foremost was how unique it felt. The combination of astrology, magic, Tudor-inspired court politics was so interesting and I was immediately sucked into the world. And the characters, my god, I absolutely adored Bianca and Roland. There's so much emotional depth to the both of them, especially when it comes to grief, loss, the way in which they care for each other. Their relationship honestly just blossoms beautifully. The writing was so poetic and so atmospheric and it was so perfectly paired with the slow burn because you felt every little moment between them. But don't be fooled into thinking that this is just a romance because the plot, my god, the plot. The numerous unexpected plot twists and turns in this book genuinely have me sitting up in bed in complete and utter shock thinking what have I just read. So, if you're a fan of Tudor-inspired fantasy, rivals to lovers, courtly intrigue, murder mystery, slow burn, and better yet, she falls first but he falls harder, you need to add The Court of Venus to your TBR because this book was an absolute stellar read for me and I know so many of you are gonna absolutely love it.
