Hi, I’m Cass. Mum of 2, complete rookie who travelled to Japan for the first time with her fam. 💁🏼♀️ We definitely struggled to find our feet at first & spent more on food in the first leg of our holiday than we needed to. We then discovered the incredible pre-made food options at the grocery stores which changed everything for us. (We were not fans of the convenience store food - unpopular opinion, I know 🫣, but we LOVED alllllll the snacks!) These are EXACT figures, not guesses, not allowances, this is every. single. cent that we spent (I have calculated, cross checked & triple checked like that meme of the lady with all the calculations buzzing around her head 😂). I added up every single transaction on our Wise, Suica & normal bank accounts to get the estimated cost of each category based on today’s conversion rate. I then cross checked that with every single transfer to our all of our cards & everything we spent before we left to get our ‘ACTUAL’ spend (as the conversion rates change constantly). We did absolutely everything we wanted, paid extra to avoid wait times at the theme parks & didn’t say no to anything. Our goal was $20,000 & if I take out the 2 diamond rings I bought (which weren’t planned 🫣) we came in right on budget which I’m super happy with. 🙌🏼 I think we could absolutely do this holiday far cheaper with the information we know now (& without the novelty of buying everything & anything we see 🙈). Disclaimer: We were invited to a few experiences, I have included the estimated costs for your information, but have not included those activities in our ACTUAL spend. Any questions, drop them below. I’m happy to help 👇🏼
