I started to get sunspots and redness on my skin, so I needed to update and upgrade my skincare routine. And this is what I did. Nighttime routine, real and unfiltered: First, plain Greek. Full-fat, unsweetened, nothing fancy. It’s got natural lactic acid in it, so it’s gently exfoliating while also having enough fat to keep my skin from feeling stripped after. Leave it on 10 minutes, rinse. Then my homemade facial oil. This is what it is: - High phenolic olive oil as the base — not the stuff you’re cooking pasta in, the good stuff, loaded with antioxidants that go after the oxidative stress actually causing a lot of this discoloration in the first place. You know which one I love. Comment OLIVE if you don’t and need it. - Jojoba oil, because it mimics my skin’s own oil almost exactly, so everything else in the blend actually sinks in instead of just sitting there looking expensive - A pinch of saffron — genuinely one of the best things I’ve ever put on my face, it’s been used for centuries for brightening, so who am I to argue with centuries - Licorice root, which blocks the enzyme responsible for excess pigment, so it’s targeting the actual mechanism, not just sitting on top hoping for the best - A couple whole cloves, in small amounts, for an extra antioxidant boost — this is the one ingredient where more is not more, learned that the hard way. Its strong. 2-3 is all you need. A few drops at night, patted in, and that’s it. No 12-step routine, no cabinet full of shit I can’t pronounce. Just greek yogurt and a jar of things that are nourishing me while I sleep. Reply and tell me if you’ve dealt with sunspots too, I want to know what’s actually worked for you!
