Inside Flag: Episode 2 of “Elite Technique,” my new series made for climbers who want to make hard moves feel easy and look straight up sexy while doing it. The Inside Flag isn't poor technique, it's just misundestood... Sometimes called a "through flag," "Can-Can" or "Ferret Launcher" (lie), this technique can be used in a few situations on the wall to resist rotation and achieve stability during reaches. If your backflag is limited by your other leg(s), and/or the position requires more rotational opposition against the hold you are reaching from, the inside flag can often be superior. The inside flag can, however, lead to some pretty nasty dead-ends, in which unwinding from them can be absolutely catastrophic and result in a fall, off of and away from the rock climbing wall upon which you were participating upon. So stop swiping on this evil app, put down your phone, pick up your shoes and spandex and go try a bunch of moves with a backflag, switch feet and normal flag and then finally an inside flag. Then, write me a letter and mail it to me directly to tell me which one was easiest! But if you're still here, on this app, because you're helplessly addicted, comment below about the story of the first time you inside flagged and how it helped shape who you are today. Only accepting comments in times new roman, size 12 font, double spaced. If you size 14 your punctuation marks I WILL FIND YOU.
